Birthday Presents

Sienna received 2 birthday presents yesterday morning which she was thrilled to pieces about. The first one is the "puppy hospital" and the puppies have nappies on and when you put them in cold water the nappy turns pink for a girl puppy or blue for a boy puppy. Both James and Sienna were very excited about this little concept. Her other present was a little keyboard piano complete with piano stool and microphone. She sits at the little keyboard like a professional and talks to us via the microphone. Both pressies were a big hit and I feel really good about what she got for her 5th birthday.

Sienna's 5th birthday

Today is Sienna's 5th birthday and oh how things have changed in more ways than one since she was born for us all. She is a very happy, bubbly, cheeky girl who loves the outdoors. She is very affectionate and tells me that she loves me all the time and gives me big kisses and cuddles. She loves her brother James and if we are at a park from even when she was little she would tell anyone she met that it was her brother James.
So in honour of her 5th birthday we had the birthday pancakes and ice cream and shared what was the last of the maple syrup between the 3 of us. I think we managed to get a tablespoon each as I didn't realize we were just about out and I had already made the morning trip to the corner shop for the ice cream. Anyway both James and Sienna were thrilled with the breakfast pancakes and told me I was the best mummy in the world. For that I think I would make pancakes everyday!!!
Kids too hungry so I couldn't go upstairs and blow-dry my hair for the photos... anyway it was all about Sienna today. Happy Birthday beautiful girl.
Here are a few pic's of our breakfast and I'll post some photos of her presents tomorrow so stop by then.

Special Friends

Coffee at a coffee shop without kids....um mm... I honestly can't remember the last time I did that however this week after school drop off I met my two good friends Celia and Jo for a cuppa. Of course with Project 365 on the go how could I refuse to take a beautiful photo of these glamorous girls. Big smiles, big hearts and life time friends.

Check out these two cuties

I snapped this beautiful photo of my friend Libby with her adorable 4th child William the other morning. How she manages to look so beautifully groomed every morning after running after 4 kids I'll never know.

Late putting them to bed

This is what happens when you are 30 minutes late putting them to bed. Of course when you see Sienna like this you first thing "great photo opportunity and race downstairs to get the camera, and the expodisc to work your custom white balance setting and take your photo" THEN you think, oh I must put them to bed. Well I can do both can't I, get a cute photo and then put her to bed. Actually when walked in her left leg was over the side of the couch but it had moved by the time I got back. My beautiful little tired preppie.

New necklace

On Friday a delivery man arrived at my front door with my necklace that I had ordered from American from a company called {simple starfish} which had recently been featured on The Lettered Cottage. Given that I am doing "Project 365" this year I thought the necklace was rather appropriate. It says "capture life" and has a little camera attached to it. It's nice receiving little gifts in the mail even if I did buy it myself. Click on the photo to view the necklace up close.

Friday afternoon

Another Friday afternoon at the end of a week and we came straight home and had a swim. Sienna was a bit tired even to have a swim so she sent dolly in for a swim instead. There was also some activities involving dirt and water and school clothes straight into the tub to soak overnight. You just have to let kids be kids and deal with the washing later.

Farmers Markets

We went down to the Farmers Markets today early to get some fresh bread, pineapples and some free range lamb. It is so hot here today in Brisbane but I know it's hotter in Sydney. The kids talked me into buying them a "snow cone" each as it was so hot. Umm..they make a good profit $3.00 for some shaved ice and cordial but the kids were pretty excited when I gave in to their request. Of course we ate some poffertjes as soon as we got there as that is tradition and they didn't disappoint. After the markets we came home and jumped in the pool for a swim.

When they were little

Time certainly flys by and every now and then I'll have a peak at some old photos of the kids. James had just turned 3 years old and Sienna was 10 mths old. What chubby little cheeks they have and boy are they sooooo cute.

Tropical Cyclone Yasi

Queensland has taken a real beating this year with flooding to 75% of the State and now Tropical Cyclone Yasi which is a category 5 cyclone due to hit between Innisfail and Cardwell tonight between 11-12pm. Cyclone Larry hit Innisfail 5 years ago and it was only a category 4 which destroyed so much of the town so Yasi is not going to be good. I couldn't imagine anything more frightening that being in the smallest room in your house for 6-7 hrs with winds up to 295 kms per hour and continuous rain. I know when I wake up in the morning and turn on the TV I will be shocked and yet we are lucky enough here in Brisbane to be no where near it. Everyone is off the streets and waiting it out now but tomorrow will be a different story.

The cyclone measures 1,000 kms across, that is massive, almost from Brisbane to Sydney and the eye of the cyclone is up to 150 kms. Cyclone Larry at a category 4, eye measured 35 kms and we know how much damage that did. My thoughts go out to all those experiencing this frightening event.

December Daily 2010

During December I did a little photo shoot with our Christmas Tree at the local park. Just as well I don't get embarrassed easily however we carted it from the car to a spot, put the camera on the tripod and here are a few photos from our afternoon. I didn't get too many with myself in there as by the time I had taken the ones of the kids they were just about over it and I managed a couple with me in but would have preferred some nicer ones. Still, I was pretty happy my kids are mostly obliging to my crazy ideas around Christmas time. Click on the photo to enlarge.
