A friendly game of netball with our friends was lots of fun until I fell over and grazed my knee.  Ouch!

Family dinner in the evenings.

James Dream Catcher he made in art class at school on display at our "Arts Alive" night.

Sienna's drawing of a character in a book the Grade 2's were reading on the wall at the "Arts Alive" show.

KWH - (aka kids were here).  I said they could get the shredder machine out of it's box! (big mistake I think on surveying this scene)

Magic Show seating by Sienna with her animal friends ready for James and I to take a seat.

Sienna thinks of everything and made up a box with apples for us to enjoy while we watched her show.  Little things like that just make me smile.

Remembering Alice's Birthday

Two years ago today I took photos of Alice on her 8th birthday for her family.  Alice had been in hospital undergoing treatment for Leukemia and was lucky enough to be able to come home from hospital to celebrate her 8th birthday with her family and friends.  Alice lost her fight with Leukemia some four months later and as I write this I still get shivers up my spine.  I've lost a brother myself, and I know the grief that goes along with that life changing event however, I think it's nothing compared to losing a child and my heart goes out to Alice's family and friends today remembering this beautiful little girl that was loved by many and who would be turning 10 today.  Happy Birthday Alice you are always in our thoughts.

STILLS : A WEEKLY COLLECTION

This week was a huge week participating on Ali Edwards "Week in the Life" Project which is about documenting your everyday life, routines and surroundings for 7 days.  I've done this project for 5 years now and this is a favourite photo project of mine.  I love looking back at each year to see how we were living, what we were doing, what we were into and our general life from year to year.  My 2012 Week in the Life can be seen here.   Here are some stills from this week and my 7 days for 2013 photos can be seen below this post.

DVD the kids have been wanting to watch.

The CityCat Ferry on the Brisbane River.

Time for a coffee break.

New books purchased from the School's Book Fair.

James deciding on his books to buy at the Book Fair & Dress up in your favourite Sports outfit Day.

Have been watching "Slide Show" on TV lately with the kids.

Sienna home half day from school as she was unwell and her pink bunny is keeping her company.

My birthday yesterday, it's one of those ones that end in an "0". Rest of the photos can be seen here.

Birthday roses from Mum and my sister.

Week in the Life - Day 7

Yesterday was my birthday and I was given lovely hand made cards by the kids and some yummy chocolates.  We consumed a small box of Cadbury Roses Chocolates at 7am in the morning which I think you are entitled to on your birthday.  My favourite birthday tradition is to take a photo of myself with my 2 kids and 4 cupcakes which, as the birthday girl, I get to eat 2 cupcakes and the kids each have one.

I set the camera up on the tripod to take the photos which is tricky because where I would "spot focus" my camera would be the middle person which would be me, however I'm missing from the pictures until I hit the self-timer and run around to get into the picture.  This little tradition is in it's 8th year and it's amazing how much the kids change over time as Sienna was 7 months old and James was 2 and a 1/2 years old when the first photo was taken.  I know the kids get older from the photos however that also means one thing and that is for every year they get older.....I do too.

You will notice that every photo has the same cupcakes bought from the same local bakery with the exceptio of 2007 where they had run out and I had to buy some from Coles which were very average.  So the cupcakes play a significant role in this wonderful birthday tradition as well.

Here are the previous 7 years of my birthday photo with my 2 kids and 4 cupcakes going back in time from 2012 to 2006.

Week in the Life - Day 6

Saturday morning was a lazy morning and the kids had some time on the iPad and xbox and then we headed over to Granny's place (my Mum).  In the evening we watched a DVD together that was on sale for $7 at Coles.  Here's a few photos from our Day 6 for Week in the Life 2013.

Week in the Life - Day 5

Today started off with assembly for Grade 2 and Sienna was a Bush Ranger with a speaking line of "give me your precious money" as they were holding up a train.  The kids were doing a demonstration of their day trip to the Caboolture Historical Village a few weeks ago.  After school we went to the school's Book Fair held in the library and the kids each got a few books each.  Today was also a dress up in your favourite "sports outfit" for a gold coin donation for charity which is why the kids aren't in their school uniform.

I've posted a couple of photos today and as my internet is slow I will post a few more next Monday.
